We are looking for volunteers to help dig the bank and plant the shrubs. Please if you can help us, even just for an hour Thursday next 20th March and the following week whatever you can offer we would be very grateful. Please get in touch with us by messaging our Facebook page or by emailing info@wexfordtidytowns.com with your number or email and we will get in touch with more details. Thank you

First Cleanup of 2014

Our first cleanup of 2014 was held in The Ferry and Carcur area on the 11th January. Thank you to the 22 volunteers who came out on this beautiful morning, we got a lot of work done. Special thanks to Anne Troy, who usually looks after the road out around the Ferry, who offered free parking and had us all back to her beautiful home, where we had homemade soup home made brown bread, and home made mince pies. it was all delicious.

Volunteer Day at Wexford Campus

volunteercarlowitWexford Tidy Towns representatives attended the Student Volunteer Day at the Wexford Campus in Summerhill today. The hope is that some of the students will volunteer and help out on our regular cleanups. An added incentive for students is the opportunity to earn an IT Carlow President’s Volunteer Award. There is a Gold Award for 60 hours volunteering, a Silver for 40 hours and a Bronze for 20 hours. Apart from getting students to work with, and within, local communities, the expectation is that they will also develop good civic and leadership skills. Application forms are available at college reception or online.
